Jungle Mungle

1. Keen Logic

Papa eagle finally swooped
Down to the nest
Where his baby was due.
He had been, moments ago,
Collecting grub by Chumchum cool,
At the spot where a hundred pebbles
Recited the Vedas in their gurgles.

When he did arrive
By his precocious offspring,
Was he surprised…?!
Perplexed by the ancient logic,
He could only chastise…

2. A Song in Red

The Red Mountain was the apple
Of the eyes of all
Who romped in Jungle Mungle.
When a bird or animal
Came visiting, they were escorted
To the mountain top
From where the view was phenomenal.

When a crane Siberian,
Alighted on a pine one morning…
He was besotted by a voice,
Sweet as cider but hidden…

3. Upstart Tree

In Jungle Mungle, some grow gnarly and thick,
A few slender, others tall…
But without exception… each tree knows
Who’s the queen of them all.

Trees here, with trees compete,
But one day winds fleet
Brought a strange seed
Who threatened to make the ruler obsolete…
